Big Island police today released information on two ongoing investigations of armed robberies which occurred Thursday and Friday in Hamakua and Hilo, respectively.

A 35-year-old Colorado man told police he was robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash at 9:30 p.m. Thursday by a gunman on the Waipi'o Access Road in Hamakua. The victim said the gunman and another person fled in a white two-door Dodge sedan.

Friday's Hilo robbery was reported at 5:35 p.m.

Police responding to a report of a man being assaulted by another man in front of a home in the upper Waiakea Uka area found a 24-year old Hilo man with apparent injuries suffered during the confrontation with a male suspect, who fled by the time officers arrived. Fire/rescue personnel took the victim to Hilo Medical Center for treatment of his injuries, which were not life threatening. His condition was listed as fair.

The victim told police he was forcibly pulled from his vehicle by a man and then beaten and robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect fled in an early model white Toyota pickup truck with dark tinted windows, according to the victim.

The Hilo case is being investigated as an unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle, robbery investigations, and an assault.
