TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"Prison Break," 7 p.m., Fox. If you're bummed about Mondays without Jack Bauer, take heart: This hour has all the strengths and flaws of "24." One flaw is an obsession with brutality and torture. Another is creating problems so immense that any solution will strain believability. And the strengths? There's strong camera work, sturdy heroes and tense situations. It's time for Michael to launch his escape, but he frets about bringing three bad guys. A complex - and not too believable — plan unfolds, setting up next week's season finale.

"Welcome to the Captain," 7:30 p.m., CBS. Last week's debut introduced an old Los Angeles apartment building, with some strong characters in support. One is Uncle Saul (Jeffrey Tambor). In a funny episode tonight, he takes Josh to his "weekend place." Meanwhile, Josh frets about the sweet and beautiful Hope. Then fate strikes.

OF NOTE

"Celebrity Expose," 7 p.m., MyNetwork TV. Marking the 25th anniversary of Michael Jackson's landmark "Thriller" album, this hour will interview musicians, including an in-studio interview with Jackson.

"American Gladiators," 7 p.m., NBC. The semifinals wrap up tonight, setting up the finale at 7 p.m. Sunday.

"Crossroads," 6 p.m., CMT/KHON digital 587. Robert Plant, the strong-voiced Led Zeppelin singer, links with gentle-voiced Alison Krauss. The music is relatively mild, but they have some good stories. Krauss describes their first phone conversation, when she was trying to talk in a monotone, to avoid waking her baby. Plant's reaction: "I thought Qualudes were illegal."

"The Mormons," 9 p.m., PBS; concludes tomorrow. Here's a rerun of the richly crafted documentary. The first half traces the epic events behind the creation of an American-made religion.

"Two and a Half Men," 8 p.m., CBS. When this rerun began, Charlie was still trying to seem mature and responsible enough to date Linda. That gets tested when he's in charge of her 4-year-old son.

"The New Adventures of Old Christine," 8:30 p.m., CBS. After Mr. Harris flirts with a young waitress, Christine visits a plastic surgeon.

"In Treatment," 7:30 p.m., HBO. Last week, Paul received the devastating news that his wife is having an affair. When we catch him today, he's sleeping in his office and frazzled. His session with Laura (Melissa George) is oddly disjointed.

"Notes From the Underbelly," 8:31 p.m., ABC. Lauren feels Andrew spends too much time wondering if this is the day the baby will be born. She diverts him with concert tickets ... and then, of course, there's a baby complication.

"October Road," 9:01 p.m., ABC. Nick, the successful author, learns that he's broke.
