Call for entries in teen arts award competition

Windward high school students are invited to apply for the Windward Arts Council 20th annual Teen Arts Achievement Award competition.

Awards of $300 and $150 will be given in five disciplines: visual arts, music, dance, drama and literary, including Hawaiian and Pacific Arts in all disciplines.

To be eligible, students must be in grades 9 to 12, live on the Windward side and be recommended by a school or private art teacher.

Applications are available through art teachers, counselors and private instructor and from Anne McKay at annemckay@hawaii.rr.com or call her at 254-1147 or mail her c/o Windward Arts Council, Box 1704, Kailua HI 96734. Deadline is March 3.

Windward Arts Council will present the awards at a public concert and exhibition in April.

Awards are made possible by the Harold K.L. Castle Foundation, individuals and the Windward Arts Council Irmgard Aluli Fund, which sponsors the awards in Hawaiian arts.
