Soccer: Japan team arrives today for Pan-Pacific event

Japan's Gamba Osaka soccer team will arrive today in preparation for the Pan-Pacific Soccer Championships, an international tournament featuring David Beckham and Hawaii's Brian Ching Feb. 20 and 23 at Aloha Stadium.

The team is scheduled this morning, will stay at the Hilton Hawaiian Village, and is scheduled to train at the University of Hawaii today.

Gamba Osaka is the defending Nabisco Cup champion. The teams in the tournament are the Los Angeles Galaxy and Houston Dynamo of Major League Soccer and Sydney FC of Australia.

Sydney FC, one of Australia's most successful clubs and a member of the Hyundai A-League, features Australian national team standout Alex Brosque, Brazilian World Cup champion Juninho and team captain Tony Popovic.
