Spring 2008 John Young scholars at UH announced

Twelve students from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa Colleges of Arts and Sciences have been awarded John Young Scholarship in the Arts.

The John Young Scholarship in the Arts, established by the John Young Foundation in memory of the late artist John Young, provides assistance to undergraduates and graduate students pursuing a degree in an arts-related field. Scholars receive monetary awards — $6,000 to graduate students and $3,000 to undergraduate students.

The recipients: (graduate students) — Kuang-Hung Chen, Philosophy (Taiwan); Sammie Choy, Theatre (Honolulu); Michelle Jones, Sculpture/Glass (Palolo); Heejin Kang, Piano Performance, (Korea); Lian Litvin, Fine Arts (Tel Aviv); Gary Liu, Asian Art History (Honolulu); Chadwick Pang, Ethnomusicology (Honolulu); Andrea Spolti, Piano Performance (Italy).

Undergraduate Students — Brooke Jones, English (Mililani); Jennifer Montgomery, Printmaking/Painting (Denver, Colo.); Dallas Nagata, Studio Art (Kula, Maui); Colin Ota, Fine Arts (Kane'ohe).
