Course: Turtle Bay Resort, The Arnold Palmer Course (6,582 yards, par 72).

Purse: $1.1 million. Winner's share: $165,000.

Television (Hawai'i times): Golf Channel (Thursday, Friday, Saturday 1:30-4 p.m., 8-10 p.m.).

Last year: Paula Creamer won the season-opening tournament for her first victory since 2005, holing a long birdie putt on the 17th hole to beat Julieta Granada by a stroke. Creamer also won the Tournament of Champions in November.

Last event: The Philippines' Jennifer Rosales and Dorothy Delasin won the Women's World Cup of Golf on Jan. 20 in South Africa.

Notes: Michelle Wie will open the season next week in the Fields Open at Ko Olina. ... Annika Sorenstam is making her first appearance in the event, while top-ranked Lorena Ochoa is taking the week off. Creamer, Suzann Pettersen, Cristie Kerr, Morgan Pressel, Natalie Gulbis, Brittany Lincicome and Pat Hurst also are in the field. ... Rosales won the inaugural event in 2005, beating Wie and Kerr by two strokes. ... South Korea's Joo Mi Kim won in 2006, beating Soo Young Moon in a playoff.
