Kahuku's late surge knocks off Kailua

Jray Galeai hit four 3-pointers and scored a game-high 22 points, and Kahuku pulled away in the fourth quarter to beat Kailua, 48-39, in an O'ahu Interscholastic Association Red Tournament boys basketball game at Kahuku last night.

The Red Raiders overcame a 14-10 first-quarter deficit and held a 38-34 lead entering the fourth quarter when they outscored the Surfriders, 10-5.

Kenny Ellis scored 11 points for Kailua.

Mason Koa scored a team-high 10 points as the Hurricanes erased a 16-10 halftime deficit by outscoring the Mules 29-18 in the second half in an OIA Red Tournament game at Kahuku.

Leilehua's Art Laurel led all scorers with 14 points.

Brydgette Tatupu-Leopoldo scored a game-high 21 points to lead the host Governors over the Red Raiders in an OIA Red Tournament girls basketball game.

Natalie Mata added 13 points for Farrington. Taeja Afalava led Kahuku with 12 points.

LUTHERAN 21, ASSETS 20

Michael Abang scored a game-high 10 points as Lutheran held off Assets in an Interscholastic League of Honolulu Division II boys varsity tournament game.

George Camba scored nine points to lead Assets at Damien.

Assets trailed 13-6 at halftime and closed the gap to 21-20 in the final moments, but they missed two free throws with no time left on the clock.
