Jeannie Chesser benefit Saturday at valley park

A benefit for Jeannie Chesser and Defend Oahu Coalition is set for noon to 6 p.m. Saturday at Waimea Valley Park on O'ahu's North Shore.

The event includes Primo, pupu and silent auction. Entry is free.

Chesser is a Florida-born surfer who has lived in Hawai'i for most of her life. She is battling cancer, and the Defend Oahu Coalition is an organization that she supports.

The silent auction features boards ridden by professional surfers, new boards, bikinis, jewelry, original art, books and photographs. Some 30 boards have been donated by surfers including Andy Irons, Jamie O'Brien and Kelly Slater.
