Girl, 7, reports kidnap attempt in Kane'ohe

Police were investigating the attempted kidnapping of a young girl yesterday in Kane'ohe.

The girl, 7, told police she was walking home from Kapunahala Elementary School at 45-828 Anoi Road at 2:15 p.m. when a man grabbed her.

Details on how she managed to escape were not available. Police had made no arrests as of last night.

WAIKIKI MOPED CRASH INJURES 19-YEAR-OLD

A 19-year-old man was critically injured early yesterday in a moped crash on Seaside Avenue, 71 feet north of Kalakaua Avenue in Waikiki.

The man lost control of his 1988 Yamaha moped after turning left from Kalakaua onto Seaside Avenue at 1:05 a.m., said police vehicular homicide investigator Sgt. Alan Vegas. The moped veered to the right and struck a curb and a tree.

ROBBERY SUSPECT ESCAPES FROM POLICE

A 41-year-old robbery suspect escaped Monday night while being booked at the Wahiawa police station and was still at large last night.

Police said Tobias Debardeleben is 5 feet 10 and 160 pounds, and has multiple tattoos, including "Lucifer" on his neck, "Bones" on his left palm, and a skeleton on his left rib cage.
