Amosa Sabers' football coach

Former Campbell High School and University of Hawai'i standout offensive lineman Amosa Amosa has been named head football coach at Campbell, athletic director Sam Delos Reyes announced last night.

Amosa, a former All-Western Athletic Conference selection, has been the offensive coordinator at 'Aiea for the past several seasons. He replaces Tumoana Kenessey, whose contract was not renewed last month.

"Amosa is a really good fit for our program," Delos Reyes said. "He has really good school and community ties, and someone of his stature can help our kids aim for the next level. They can identify with his accomplishments."

Amosa was a football and basketball standout for Campbell in the early 1980s, then became an All-WAC offensive lineman on the 1988 Hawai'i team that finished 9-3.

He also was boys basketball head coach at 'Aiea earlier this decade.
