Surf drops along north-, west-facing shores

Advertiser Staff

The National Weather Service has canceled a high surf warning and advisory that had been posted the past couple of days from Ni'ihau to Maui.

Surf today on O'ahu is expected to decrease along north-facing shores to 6 to 10 feet, forecasters said.

Elsewhere, the surf is expected to diminish to 4 to 8 feet on west-facing shores, reach 2 to 4 feet along east-facing shores and remain at 1 to 3 feet along south-facing shores.

The current northwest swell will slowly lower during the weekend. A new northwest swell will build again late Sunday, peak late Monday, then slowly decline into Wednesday. Surf heights will peak near advisory levels along north- and west-facing shores. Another northwest swell is possible around Thursday.
