A 57-year-old man found floating in the water at Makaha Beach today was pronounced dead at the Wai'anae Coast Comprehensive Health Center.

The man was pronounced at 12:30 p.m., according to the Honolulu Medical Examiner's office. His identity is not confirmed.

Police said lifeguards brought the unconscious man to shore at 11:44 a.m. but attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.

An autopsy Tuesday will try to determine cause and manner of death.
