Teen moped rider remains critical in Sand Island crash

A 16-year-old moped rider remains in critical condition after crashing into a curb at 9 p.m. last night off Sand Island Access Road, police said.
The rider, of Kalihi, was not wearing a helmet when he crashed into the curb on Pahounui Drive and was ejected from the moped 300 feet west of Sand Island Access Road, police said. The 1998 yellow and black moped was reported stolen last February, police said. The teenager was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in critical condition.
