Night roadwork to affect Waipahu, Ala Moana traffic

Advertiser Staff

The H-1 Freeway's two right-most lanes from the Fort Weaver Road on-ramp to the Paiwa Street on-ramp will be closed to east-bound traffic nightly starting tonight at 9 through 4 a.m. Friday for pavement resurfacing work, the state Department of Transportation said.

During these hours, the east-bound Waikelele/Waipahu offramp will also be closed. East-bound motorists are advised to use alternate exits: 'Ewa-Kunia-Waipahu off-ramp (Exit 7), the Waipahu off-ramp (Exit 8) or the Kamehameha Highway off-ramp (Exit 8C).

The $4.6 million pavement preservation project will resurface all lanes along the 1.83-mile stretch of H-1 Freeway between Waipahu Street and the Waikele Stream bridge. Contractor Grace Pacific Corp. is scheduled to complete the work in June.

Other DOT nightly road closures starting tonight through Friday morning include multiple lanes of Ala Moana in both directions from Fort Street to Pi'ikoi Street for installation of street light and traffic signal conduits. Lanes will be closed at 8 p.m. through 5 a.m.
