TB testing set for 106 tomorrow at Kahuku High

Advertiser Staff

Kahuku High & Intermediate students and faculty exposed to tuberculosis in January are scheduled to receive a skin test tomorrow to determine if they have contracted the disease.

Some 99 students and seven adults at the school who came into contact with a teacher who has the disease will be tested by the state Department of Health.

The teacher learned about having the disease after visiting a doctor because of illness. Tests done at the time of the visit came back positive for the illness.

The health department determined that a limited number of people came into contact with the teacher and will test them only. Tests are "read" two to three days after administration of the test.
