Oahu students to hold simulated global summit

Advertiser Staff

About 200 high school students from 15 O'ahu schools will discuss balancing economic needs with environmental protection in a simulated global summit on Saturday.

The conference at the Hawaii Tokai International College is a simulation reminiscent of the Major Economics Meeting on Energy Security and Climate Change held last month at the East-West Center.

Students will represent 12 countries and negotiate an international agreement to reduce carbon emissions over the next 10 years.

The student conference is sponsored by the Center for International Business, Education and Research at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa Shidler College of Business.
