Honolulu residents can expect an increase in aircraft traffic over the area on Friday morning due to maintenance work at the Honolulu International Airport.

State Department of Transportation officials said Runway 8R — the "Reef Runway" — will be closed for maintenance from 1 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. on Friday and during that time take-off patterns for outgoing flights will be modified, resulting in increased air traffic over the Downtown Honolulu area.
