POUHALA MARSH RESTORATION — The Hawai'i Nature Center is restoring Pouhala Marsh, the largest remaining wetland in Pearl Harbor. Volunteers needed to pull pickleweed and mangrove 8:30-11:30 a.m. March 8. Bring work gloves, water, hat, sunscreen, towel and change of clothes; covered footwear and long pants required. WAIPAHU EARTH DAY — The 37th Aloha 'Aina Recycling Community Cleanup Project will accept bulky items and recyclables 8 a.m.-2 p.m. March 1 at Waipahu Intermediate. Accepting HI-5¢ containers, printer cartridges, usable lumber, clothing, scrap metal, auto parts, cooking oil, lawn mowers, newspapers, cardboard, fishing nets and more. Proceeds will benefit Waipahu Complex schools. Volunteers, vans and pickup trucks needed. For curbside pickup, call Clarence Nishihara at 728-1008 or Rene Mansho at 306-1876.

OPERATION POLIHALE — The Division of State Parks and Leadership Kaua'i welcome volunteers to work with Pi'ina Hoku youth program in Operation Polihale, 8 a.m.-noon March 8 and April 12. Work includes cleanup, plant trimming, fixture repairs, painting and replacement of vehicle barriers at Polihale State Park. Contact Leadership Kaua'i at 808-246-8727.

THURSDAY WORKDAYS — Join the Nature Conservancy 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursdays at the Honouliuli Preserve in Kunia for volunteer work requiring hiking and moderately strenuous activity removing invasive species, clearing trails, monitoring and repairing fences. WEED & POT CLUB — Maui Nui Botanical Garden's Weed & Pot Club meets 8:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesdays at 150 Kanaloa Ave. in Kahului to weed, rake, trim or transplant nursery plants, and perform other beautification and maintenance work. Tools, gloves and drinking water provided; bring sunscreen, wear shoes.
