Fox juggles programs in strike's aftermath

By Mike Hughes

"House" fans will need some extra patience: The show won't have any new, post-strike episodes until April 28.

Other Fox shows will also wait until mid-April or later.

There are consolations, however. The network has five new spring shows that will start earlier; it also has a few spare comedy episodes that were finished before the strike.

The spring plan, which Fox announced this week, includes:

  • "House" settles into its new time slot (8 p.m. Mondays) with a rerun on April 21 then starts new episodes.

  • "Bones" will be its lead-in. It has new episodes, beginning April 14.

  • "Back to You" and " 'Til Death" will return to their old Wednesday spots with new episodes beginning April 16. Prior to that, they have a few new ones on the shelf. The "Back to You" ones will air Feb. 26-27, " 'Til Death" on March 25.

  • "Hell's Kitchen" is being brought back early. It starts a new season April 1.

  • There are also four spring tryout shows.

Those include two comedies — "Unhitched" premiering Sunday, March 2, and "The Return of Jezebel James" on Friday, March 14. "New Amsterdam," about a 400-year-old New York cop, and "Canterbury's Law," with Julianna Margulies as a high-pressure lawyer, will temporarily take Mondays, starting March 10.

Before that, "New Amsterdam" gets two spots after "American Idol," on March 4 and 6.
