Rain expected tonight as front approaches

Advertiser Staff

The run of dry, mostly sunny days may be coming to an end, according to the National Weather Service.

A ridge over the Islands will keep the weather dry and the winds light today, forecasters said.

The weather will change starting tonight as a front approaches from the northwest. South winds and a few showers will develop ahead of the front.

The front is expected to reach Kaua'i on Sunday and bring clouds and showers as it moves down to the Big Island by Monday evening. No flooding rain is expected.

Winds will shift from south to north as the front passes. A weak, high-pressure area behind the front will bring light winds Tuesday through Thursday.

Trade winds may finally return Thursday night.
