Tennis: U.S to host France in Davis Cup quarterfinals

Associated Press

LONDON — The United States will host France on indoor hard courts in Winston-Salem, N.C., in the Davis Cup quarterfinals.

The defending champions will play the French team April 11-13 at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum, the International Tennis Federation said today.

The last time the teams played, France beat the U.S. on clay at Roland Garros in the 2002 semifinals.

Russia hosts the Czech Republic on indoor clay at the Luzhniki arena in Moscow, and Argentina will host Sweden on outdoor clay at the Estadio Parque Roca in Buenos Aires.

Germany will face Spain at the AWD Dome in Bremen. The matches will be played indoors on a surface yet to be decided.
