Advertiser Staff

A flagman was seriously injured on Friday when he was struck by a vehicle on Kuhio Highway in the vicinity of North 'Aliomanu Road.

The flagman, a Niu Construction employee, was directing traffic on Kuhio Highway between mile marker 15 and 18 while the company was repaving the highway.

At around 2:30 p.m., he was struck by a southbound vehicle driven by 74-year-old woman, Kaua'i County officials said.

The flagman was treated at the scene and taken to Wilcox Hospital for further treatment.

He was released from the hospital on Friday.
