CHICAGO — Valerie Bertinelli says despite her girl-next-door image, her marriage to Eddie Van Halen was hurt by infidelity and drug use — by her, too.

"I wasn't an angel, either. I cheated, too," Bertinelli said on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" broadcast yesterday. "He claims to this day that I cheated first, but I don't know. I don't know about the timing."

Bertinelli, who starred in the long-running sitcom "One Day at a Time," married Van Halen in 1981 when she was 20. She said she was "destroying my body," trying to keep up with a rock-star lifestyle on the weekends and weeks off from taping her TV show.

The couple separated in 2001. Their divorce became final in December. They have a son, Wolfgang, who's now 16 and touring as bassist with the band Van Halen.

The actress, 47, said she has struggled with body-image issues since she was a child, but especially turned to food for comfort as her marriage dissolved. Bertinelli is now a spokeswoman for Jenny Craig and said she's lost 40 pounds. She has a new book, "Losing It: And Gaining My Life Back One Pound at a Time."

OSCAR SPOTLIGHT IGNORED GOLDBERG

Actress-comedian Whoopi Goldberg was forgotten from another of the 3 million video montages on Hollywood's biggest night of self-adulation, this one showing previous Oscar hosts.

www.USAToday.com notes that yesterday on "The View," Whoopi co-hosts Joy Behar, Sherri Shepherd, Barbara Walters and Elisabeth Hasselbeck bemoaned the oversight. They pointed out that their pal was the first black woman to host the show and the second black woman ever to win an Oscar. Whoopi said Steve Martin also was left out.

She kissed and thanked the girls.

BALDWIN TANTRUM A THING OF THE PAST

TMZ and Brit tab the Daily Mail report that Alec Baldwin and his daughter, Ireland, 12, have reconciled. We know this because a paparazzo photographed a beaming Ireland sitting next to her dad in a car. (Of course, they may have reconciled months ago. Who knows?)

Baldwin shocked parents around the world in April when an angry, insulting voice mail he had left his then-11-year-old daughter was leaked on the Net. Baldwin was peeved that Ireland did not answer the phone. "You answer or you get hit with a brick," he said during the two-minute harangue, in which he called the fruit of his loins a "rude pig." Soon after, Baldwin apologized publicly for the message.

LORI REVELS TAKES MRS. HAWAII TITLE

Lori Revels of Honolulu has taken the title of Mrs. Hawaii International 2008. Revels will travel to Chicago in July to represent Hawai'i in the national competition and compete for the title of Mrs. International 2008.

Revels is a mother of four and runs her own photography business. She volunteers for her church and her children's school. As Mrs. Hawaii International, Revels will work on improving children's education, focusing on encouraging schools and parents to "make learning a positive and enjoyable experience, rather than a chore," Revels said.
