Peace Corps recruiting session at UH-Manoa

Advertiser Staff

A special information session featuring a Peace Corps recruiter is scheduled tomorrow from 6-8 p.m. at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa Campus Center's Room 220.

There are 21 people from Hawai'i currently serving as Peace Corps volunteers in 15 countries. Last year at this time, there were 10 volunteers from Hawai'i.

"We credit the spirit of community in Hawai'i, as well as the strong community of returned Peace Corps volunteers who live in Hawai'i and the support we receive from the University of Hawai'i system," Janet Allen, regional manager of the Peace Corps recruitment office in Hawai'i, said of the increased 2008 numbers.

Hawai'i volunteers are currently in agriculture, the environment, business development, education and health.
