Bhutanese monks to perform ritual dance in Honolulu

As part of the opening of "The Dragon's Gift: The Sacred Arts of Bhutan," every day this week at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., monks will perform Cham, the Buddhist ritual dances of Bhutan, in Central Court at the Honolulu Academy of Arts.

Dressed in robes with elaborate headdresses, the monks will perform dances such as the Black Hat Drum dance (pictured). The event is included with the price of admission to the museum ($10, $20 for The Dragon's Gift, free for members).

Performances continue through Friday.

The monks will also perform at ARTafterDARK this Friday at 6 p.m. Admission: $10
