Advertiser Staff

Michael Crowell scored 20 points, including a 3-pointer to send the game into overtime, and Jordan Brooks added 15 as Idaho won its first road game of the season, defeating the University of Hawaii, 85-77, tonight at Stan Sheriff Center.

Bill Amis scored 20, Bobby Nash 19 and Matt Gibson 18 for the Rainbows, which fell to 11-15 overall and 7-6 in the Western Athletic Conference. Idaho is 7-19, 4-10.

Crowell hit a 3-pointer with 21 seconds to tie the game at 68 and force overtime. Before that, Nash hit four free throws to cap an 8-0 run to give UH a 68-65 lead with 38 seconds left.

With Idaho ahead, 65-64, Brooks drove to the basket, stumbled and lost the ball out of bounds. He complained to an official and was called for a technical. Nash then hit two free throws. After regaining possession, Nash was fouled and hit two more free throws for a 68-65 lead.

But Crowell's long jumper tied it. UH worked the clock and Gibson dished the ball inside to Amis, whose shot was rejected.

Idaho outscored UH 17-10 in overtime. Brooks had 14 rebounds.

UH plays its final home of the season Saturday against Boise State at Stan Sheriff Center.
