Moanalua High School junior Tadd Fujikawa will tee off at 8:29 a.m. Eastern time (3:29 a.m. Hawai'i time) in the Honda Classic today at the PGA National Champion Course in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
Fujikawa, 17, is playing on a sponsor's exemption. He will be paired with PGA Tour players Chad Collins and Michael Letzig.
The PGA Tour event will be Fujikawa's 11th start since turning pro last year. He is looking to make his first cut.
Hawai'i PGA Tour members Parker McLachlin and Dean Wilson are not playing in this tournament. Wilson withdrew, according to an Associated Press story, but no reason was reported.
The Golf Channel will air the tournament live from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Hawai'i time).
COUPLES, NORMAN TO CAPTAIN PRESIDENTS CUP
Fred Couples and Greg Norman have been named captains of the 2009 Presidents Cup at Harding Park Golf Course in San Francisco.
Couples already has made his first strategic move. He plans to ask six-time NBA champion Michael Jordan and comedian Robin Williams to serve as assistants for the U.S. team.
Couples said Jordan would bolster the team's competitiveness, and Williams would offer comic relief in the uncommon team setting.
Couples also alluded to a "great friend" whom he would like to pick as an assistant playing captain.
That spot likely would fall to Davis Love III, Couples' best friend on tour.
