H-1 project continues from Waikele to Waipahu

Advertiser Staff

The two rightmost lanes of H-1 Freeway in the east-bound direction will be closed from the Waikele/Waipahu off-ramp (Exit 7, East) to the Kamehameha Highway off-ramp (Exit 8A, East) next week, Monday night through Friday morning from 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. nightly, for pavement-resurfacing work.

The east-bound Paiwa Street on-ramp will also be closed during the H-1 lane closure. East-bound motorists are advised to use alternate freeway entrances from Fort Weaver Road, Kamehameha Highway or Farrington Highway.

The "pavement preservation" project will resurface all lanes along a 1.83-mile stretch of H-1 Freeway between Waipahu Street and the Waikele Stream Bridge, including the on- and off-ramps at the Paiwa Interchange and the east-bound Waipahu off-ramp.

The $4.6-million project is expected to be finished in June.
