Kalihi shrine to offer Shinto blessings

Welcome the year of the rat today with a traditional Shinto blessing at Hawaii Kotohira Jinsha — Hawaii Dazaifu Tenmangu shrine in Kalihi.

Blessings will be given New Year's Day, from midnight to 5 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public.

The shrine is located at 1239 Olomea St.

Additional parking will be available at Damien Memorial School, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today. A shuttle will take attendees to the shrine.
