CHINATOWN
'First Friday' event will feature art by students

Advertiser Staff

Works from young artists will be on display in Chinatown at the first "First Friday" event of the year.

In addition to regular exhibits at Chinatown galleries, a display of art by middle and high school artists will be 5-9 p.m. Friday at the Mendonca Building Courtyard, 1126 Smith St.

The free event will feature Rick Pettit, a student at King Intermediate School, art from students in teacher Alicia Rogan's classes at Castle High School and works from Daunna's Art Studio in Kailua.

The art will be available for sale.

There will also be entertainment and box dinners.

Correction: Rick Pettit is an artist who teaches at King Intermediate School, and he will be bringing work from his students to this week’s First Friday event in Chinatown. His name was misspelled and he was incorrectly described in a previous version of this story.
