Police investigating 3 Oahu bank robberies

Police are looking for suspects in four bank robberies sandwiched between New Year's Day, including three today.

Today's robberies were at American Savings Bank's McCully and Waipahu branches, and at Hawaii National Bank at Dillingham Plazza.

No injuries were reported.

ASB's branch at 1018 McCully Street was robbed at 10:25 p.m. The male suspect handed a demand note to the teller and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash toward Young Street, police said.

The suspect, an African-American, is believed to be the same man who robbed First Hawaiian Bank's Kalihi branch at 250 N. King Street on Monday.

Today's second robbery occurred at Hawaii National Bank,1505 Dillingham Blvd., at 2:22 p.m. The male suspect presented a demand note but the woman teller, 28, froze and the man fled empty-handed.

The third robbery at ASB's Waipahu branch was reported at 3:33 p.m.

A demand note was used again and the male suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. Police said a white getaway car was used.
