Big Island fugitive arrested in Waianae

Honolulu police today arrested an O'ahu man wanted on the Big Island on suspicion of attempted murder.Fred Silva III, 48, was arrested on a warrant charging him with allegedly beating a Puna man unconscious with a rubber mallet and baseball bat on Nov. 25.
The victim provided police with a partial description of his attacker, whom police identified as Silva, recently released from prison after serving a 20-year term on a 1986 manslaughter conviction.
Big Island authorities plan to fly to O'ahu to bring Silva back.
