Woman killed in Ewa Beach crash identified

The Honolulu Medical Examiner's office identified the woman killed in a single-car crash today as Julia Gomes, 77, of 'Ewa Beach.Police vehicular homicide investigator Sgt. John Agno said the 8:55 a.m. crash at the intersection of Kilaha Street and North Road in 'Ewa Beach involved a single motorist driving a 1989 Toyota Cressida.
The driver was turning left from Kilaha Street onto North Road when her car struck a road sign and utility pole, Agno said.
Gomes was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in critical condition and died at 1:31 p.m.
An autopsy tomorrow will try to determine cause and manner of death.
