HILO
Two police officers cited for outstanding work

Advertiser Staff

The Aloha Exchange Club of East Hawai'i has honored two officers as Officer of the Month.

Hilo Patrol Officer Mark Arnold was honored for November for his work during a routine traffic stop on Oct. 14 that led to the arrest of a convicted felon for drug and weapons offenses.

Arnold noticed a small cellophane packet on the floor of the vehicle, a find that prompted a search of the vehicle that turned up packaged methamphetamine, dried marijuana, live ammunition and a miniature Maglite flashlight that had been converted to a functioning .22-caliber firearm.

Puna Patrol Officer Brian Souki was named Officer of the Month for December for conducting an advanced narcotics investigation that led to the arrest of three adults and the recovery of hundreds of marijuana plants from a commercial growing operation in Orchidland Estates on Oct. 11.
