Montessori center gains national accreditation

Advertiser Staff

The L. Robert Allen Montessori Center, located at the Chaminade University campus, has earned accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children.

The association is the leading organization of early childhood professionals. Francesca DeMattos, director of the Montessori center, said the accreditation lets parents know the quality of education available at the center.

"As a laboratory school of Chaminade University, we continue to strive in educational excellence," DeMattos said. "NAEYC accreditation lets families in our community know that children in our program are getting the best care."

The accreditation system was created in 1986 to set professional standards for early childhood education.

According to the association's Web site, 10 other preschools have also received accreditation in the Islands.
