Hawaii man charged with multiple weapons offenses

Hawai'i County police have arrested and charged a Ka'u man in connection with an incident involving a handgun at Kahuku Park the evening of Dec. 22.

Richard Crapser, 43, of Oceanview, reportedly fired gunshots into the air, pointed a handgun at a 26-year-old Ka'u woman and a 30-year-old Ka'u man while threatening to kill them, and struck a 26-year-old Ka'u woman in the head with the butt of the firearm.

Crapser was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of reckless endangering and then arrested Thursday (Jan. 3) for nine additional suspected offenses.

He was charged Friday morning with assault, four counts of reckless endangering, two counts of terroristic threatening and two firearms offenses for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

He is being held at the Kona police cellblock in lieu of $18,000 bail.
