Warrior senior stars at Kahala Sunday, come early

Advertiser Staff

University of Hawaii football players Colt Brennan, Michael Lafaele, Jason Rivers, Hrecules Satele, Karl Noa, Ryan Meomaka and C.J. Hawthorne will finish their autograph tour Sunday at Kahala Mall's Center Court.

While the signing will be held from noon to 2 p.m., fans can line up as early as 6 a.m.

Fans will be asked to line up starting at Center Court, fronting Morgan Beret and T&C Surf Designs.

Tickets representing the purchase of an autograph and other items need to be purchased at the Pictures Plus store, which opens at 7 a.m.

There will be no pre-sale items available at Center Court.

If customers decide they want another item after getting to the front of the line, they may buy it at Center Court but no sales will be made prior to the autograph signing at Center Court — only at the store.

Hawthorne, a wide receiver, will only be available from 1pm on.

Autographed photos and footballs and t-shirts will be available for purchase at the Pictures Plus store, sponsors of the event. Majority of the proceeds will benefit the Na Koa Football Club and the players.

This is the fourth signing. The first was held at Kahala on Thursday. Another was held Friday at Waikiki Beach Walk and a third is to be held at the Navy Exchange today from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Autographs start from $4.

Autographs by Brennan cost $20 and sold out Thursday at the first signing event.

Pictures Plus owner Kent Untermann, a former UH player and organizer of the event, said players who attended Thursday's session got from $400 to $1,000.

Those who waited at Kahala on Thursday for Brennan (who wasn't available) were given red tickets.

Those with red tickets that only want Brennan's signature will be allowed to move up to the front of the line.

But red ticket holders that also want other players' signatures will have to stand in line and await their turn.

Only one signature per ticket will be allowed and Brennan will be signing photos and flat items only and will not sign items such as balls, shirts and helmets.

Anyone in line at Kahala Mall by 1:30 p.m. with a red ticket will get signed regardless of what time it is.

Brennan autographs have been "sold out." Pictures Plus will have other signings in the near future and will try to accommodate everyone then.

"I know what it is like being a former athlete and current fan," said Untermann, who played for UH from 1980-85. "The athletes can use the money to further their careers and it is great for the fans to meet the players. We wanted to provide a good venue to make this happen efficiently."

Na Koa (The Warrior) is the University of Hawai'i football support club. Na Koa supports the UH football program, both coaches and players, such as providing a training table during the season and spring practice, as well as other areas.
