Wide receiver first Duquesne player in Hula Bowl

Associated Press

PITTSBURGH — Duquesne wide receiver Bruce Hocker will be the only non-scholarship player in the Hula Bowl, annually one of the top college all-star football games.

Hocker is the first Duquesne player invited to the Hula Bowl, which will be played Jan. 12 in Honolulu.

"This is a great opportunity," Hocker said. "I'm looking forward to competing against some of the top talent in the country."

The 6-foot-4, 205-pound Hocker, from Upper Marlboro, Md., is one of only 12 non-Division I-A players selected for the game. He holds Duquesne's career record with 162 catches, and his 2,592 yards and 33 touchdowns are second in school history.

Hocker caught 54 passes for 668 yards and nine touchdowns on a 6-4 team this season.
