Preps: Molokai boys basketball remains undefeated

Kaden Tabil scored 17 points to help the Moloka'i High School boys basketball team stay undefeated with a 56-27 victory over Hana in a Maui Interscholastic League game yesterday at the Dragons' gym.

After coming back from a 14-8 first-quarter deficit to defeat the Dragons 69-57 on Friday night, the Farmers took control early yesterday. Molokai' (4-0) went out to a 19-8 lead in the first quarter.

Micah Ritte-Manangan added 13 points for the Farmers, who are tied atop the MIL Division II standings with Lana'i (4-0), which defeated St. Anthony yesterday. Seabury Hall, idle this week, is the only other undefeated team at 2-0.

Joshua Helekahi had eight points for Hana (0-4).

LANA'I BOYS 55, ST. ANTHONY 43

At Lana'i City, Elmer Agtarap scored 17 points for the host Pine Lads (4-0), and Russell Lamay added 10.

St. Anthony was led by Tomasi Caones' 14 points. Garrett Gonsalves added 10 for the Trojans (1-5).

BALDWIN BOYS 58, MAUI HIGH 44

At Kahului, Lincoln Seto, who was held scoreless in the first quarter, posted 12 of his game-high 18 points in the second quarter for Baldwin.

Up by a point after the first quarter, the Bears (4-1) took control in the second, outscoring the host Sabers 24-10 in the period.

Micah Shibano added 13 points for Baldwin.

Kapono Kong and Matthew Brown each scored 10 points for Maui High (0-5).

MOLOKA'I GIRLS 54, HANA 10

At Ho'olehua, the host Farmers outscored Hana 18-0 in the third quarter en route to improving to 4-0.

Kalei Adolpho scored 14 points for Moloka'i and Danna-Lynn Hooper added 11.

Cheyenne Kalama-Kekona finished with five points for the Dragons (1-3).

ST. ANTHONY GIRLS 58, LANA'I 38

At War Memorial Gym in Wailuku, Desiree Borges made three 3-pointers and finished with 25 points for St. Anthony.

Nicole Brown added 14 points for the Trojans (3-3).

Liana Kanno led Lana'i (1-3) with 13 points.

BALDWIN GIRLS 38, MAUI HIGH 35

At Kahului, Shauna Ah Yen had 16 points for Baldwin (3-2).

With the game tied at 26 going into the final quarter, the Bears outscored the host Sabers 12-9 the rest of the way.

Chynna Ramelb had 16 points for Maui High (3-2).
