Drug bust leads to Officer of the Month award

The Kona Crime Prevention Committee on the Big Island named Thomas Shopay as "Officer of the Month" for January.Police said Shopay was recognized for his efforts in recovering two-and-a-half pounds of crystal methamphetamine that were being smuggled into Kona by air in October. As a result, four men were arrested and taken into federal custody.
As Officer of the Month, Shopay is eligible to become Officer of the Year.
The Kona Crime Prevention Committee is an organization that encourages community involvement in aiding and supporting police in West Hawaii.
