Advertiser Staff

A bank robbery suspect was treated for a minor injury today at The Queen's Medical Center, forcing a postponement of his scheduled initial appearance before Magistrate Barry Kurren.

William Mara III, 33, wanted on a federal arrest warrant charging him with last Wednesday's robberies of Hawaii National Bank's Dillingham branch in Kalihi and American Savings Bank in Waipahu voluntarily surrendered at the main police station yesterday at 7:30 p.m. He was transferred to federal custody but required treatment for a finger injury at the hospital before his scheduled appearance.

The appearance was rescheduled for tomorrow at 11:15 a.m.

Mara was treated at Queen's for the injury and released. He is being held without bail at the Federal Detention Center.
