No serious injuries in Nanakuli paragliding crash

Advertiser Staff

A Canadian visitor injured his knee this afternoon in a paragliding accident in Nanakuli.

Alex Colby, president of the Hawaii Paragliding Association, seated next to the injured man about 1,000 feet up a mountainside near Nanakuli High and Intermediate School at 4 p.m. told The Advertiser by cell phone that the visitor had a launch which didn't go well and hit his knee on a rock.

The Honolulu Fire Department's helicopter brought the injured man down from the mountainside at 4:45 p.m., according to HFD spokesman Capt. Frank Johnson.

The man was taken to an unnamed hospital to be checked out.
