Alma mater: Arizona State (1977), bachelor's degree in political science

Athletic achievements:

Eight-time All-American at Arizona State;

Team captain of 1977 national championship track team;

Ran leadoff leg in gold medal-winning 4x400-meter relay team in 1976 XXI Olympics in Montreal. Also won bronze in 400.

Gold medalist at both 1975 and 1979 Pan American Games

Experience:

2002-2008—Hawai'i athletics director

2000-02—Alabama-Birmingham athletics director

1977-2000—Arizona State, holding following positions: Senior Associate Athletics Director for Business and Operations; Associate Director of Athletics; Assistant Director of Operations; Director of Athletic Facilities; Assistant Director of Events and Facilities

Accomplishments:

Hired head coaches for men's and women's basketball, women's golf, men's and women's swimming, men's and women's tennis

Oversaw numerous capital improvements, including completion of new UH Tennis Complex and the current renovations of Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex, Cooke Field and Les Murakami Stadium;

Honors:

Named Sports Illustrated 101 most influential minorities in sports in 2003

Named one of the Top 50 Most Powerful Blacks in Sports in March 2005 issue of Black Enterprise

Name in 2006 as one of the 100 Most Influential Student-Athletes who have made a significant impact or major contribution to society
