Police dispatch received numerous calls from residents at around 11 p.m. Friday about a loud explosion coming from Kapa'a Elementary School.

When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a homemade bomb had exploded outside the sliding door of the school library causing the door to buckle and the glass to crack like a spider web.
