Genocide survivor returns to Hawaii for talks
Advertiser Staff
Rwandan genocide survivor Immaculee Ilibagiza returns to Hawaii for several public events.
Chosen among the most inspiring people in the world by Beliefnet, as well as being honored by other groups for showing forgiveness to those who tore apart not only her family but her country, Ilibagiza appeared in Hawai'i last year. She survived the massacres of Rwanda in 1994 by hiding in a bathroom in a pastor's home with seven other women for 91 days.
This time, she will give the address at Red Mass, as well as speak this Sunday at St. Anthony Church in Wailuku, Maui, at 7 p.m.
There are two other free events planned at the Blaisdell Concert Hall: 6:30 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday. Sponsors are Waterhouse, the diocese, Chaminade University and Hawaii Family Forum.
