Fine weather on tap throughout the week

Advertiser Staff

A ridge that is lingering a couple of hundred miles north of the islands ill continue to generate light winds and fair weather across most of the state through the work week, according to the National Weather Service.

Light trade winds near the Big island will veer out of the southeast across the rest of the state leading to a land and sea breezes pattern that will limit clouds and light showers to afternoon hours, forecasters said.

A large northwest swell is expected to build across Hawaiian waters this afternoon and tonight, peaking early Thursday.

The tail end of a front will move down the island chain Saturday night and Sunday, bringing cool northerly winds through Monday.

Here's how the next few days are shaping up:

Today: Sunny, with a high near 81. Northeast wind around 7 mph becoming southeast.

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 66. Calm wind becoming northeast around 6 mph.

Thursday: Isolated showers after noon. Partly cloudy, with a high near 79. South wind between 3 and 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 66. Calm wind becoming northeast around 6 mph.

Friday: Isolated showers after noon. Partly cloudy, with a high near 79. South wind between 3 and 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
