McCain Hawaii campaign chief hails New Hampshire win

Advertiser Staff

Hawai'i state Rep. Gene Ward, co-chair of the McCain 2008 Hawaii campaign, hailed John McCain's victory in New Hampshire.

"New Hampshire is a small state of 1.3 million people, just like Hawai'i and has shown that small states can make a difference," Ward said.

"John is a survivor and thrives on adversity; they thought he was dead when he was shot down in Vietnam and they thought he was dead when he scaled back his campaign last summer, but like Mark Twain said, 'Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated,'" Ward added.

McCain has shown that he is really the "comeback kid" after he beat Republican opponent Mitt Romney who has outspent all Republican presidential candidates so far.

"This victory will give the lift to the McCain campaign that is already well-positioned for wins in Michigan and South Carolina in the next two weeks," Ward predicted.
