Public invited to Honolulu mayor's prayer service

Advertiser Staff

Mayor Mufi Hannemann, his wife, Gail, and members of the mayor's staff and Cabinet will gather tomorrow night at Kawaihao Church for the Mayor's Annual New Year's Prayer Service.

"This will be our fourth annual prayer service," Hannemann said, "and it's become quite a tradition. It is a chance for people to give thanks, to pray for our city and for each other as we head into a new year. Those who've attended in the past have expressed their warm appreciation for this event."

The nondenominational service gets under way at 6:30 pm. Several pastors and religious leaders from the local community will lead the congregation in prayer. Members of the public are invited to attend.
