Distributor for Chinese vehicles formed

Advertiser Staff

A new company has been formed to distribute and help open dealerships for Chinese-made cars in Hawai'i and eight other western states.

CHAMCO Auto West will be responsible for completing China America Cooperative Automotive's western U.S. dealer network with 35 to 50 initial selling points. The distributor is owned by Scott Thomason, an owner of auto dealerships in Houston and San Francisco, and Brad Shaffer, a financial executive.

China America Cooperative Automotive, or CHAMCO Auto, plans to import entry level priced cars, SUVs and trucks that are made in China. The first of the vehicles are being manufactured in China by ZXAUTO and are expected to arrive in the U.S. late this year, CHAMCO Auto said.

CHAMCO Auto West will also oversee distribution in California, Nevada, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Washington, Oregon and Alaska.
