'Peaceful punk' Mike Park headlines Jan. 19 show

"Peaceful punk" Mike Park will perform in an acoustic concert at 9 p.m. Jan. 19 at The ARTS at Marks Garage.

Park, a member of the influential '90s ska band Skankin' Pickle, was a driving force behind the now-defunct Dill Records, which released a record by Hawaii's Tantra Monsters. He currently runs Asian Man Records, an independent label based in Northern California, and is the founder of the Plea for Peace Foundation, which has been active in both national and global musical tours, has raised over $100,000 for various charities, and will works toward positive change through music.

The evening begins at 6 p.m. with local opening acoustic acts such as The Golfcart Rebellion, Black Square, and Warren Young from The Tantra Monsters. Tickets are $5 at the door.
